The Hawaiian word Aloha expresses love, affection, peace, compassion and mercy, and is commonly used as a greeting. The spirit of Aloha means breath of life. A few years ago we hosted the crew of the Hokula'a. They were on a voyage around the globe and our community greeted them at the docks and had the honor of spending a few days with them. During a supper together one evening several of our guests expressed to us that they felt the spirit of Aloha here with us on Folly Beach. This was a great honor and yet we felt equally blessed by their visit with us. It was a mutual expression of Aloha. This is the spirit we hope to shine and cultivate in the world. From our local community who come out each and every week, to the new friends we get to meet along the way as they pass through our sweet little island on the Edge of America,
